Harvesting line and grain storage – galvanized silos

About the product

The grain harvesting line and grain storage represent a technological line, the aim of which is not only the treatment of grain, or all grain imported from the field, to a state suitable for long-term storage. Another task is to ensure the long-term storage of all types of grain while maintaining the required quality parameters. Before being shipped or sold to a downstream customer, the grain is treated to a condition suitable for further use in the processing industry (malting plants, mills, compound feed factories, oil mills, biofuel and alcohol production, etc.).

We can safely say that every post-collection line we have implemented is unique and specific. But on the other hand, all post-collection lines consist of the following basic technological units:

1. Receipt of grain on the post-harvest line

Properly designed grain intake for the post-harvest line with storage in grain silos is a basic prerequisite for optimum use of the harvesting/harvesting line (number of harvesters, grain supply from the field) as well as the actual capacity utilisation of the post-harvest line. The grain intake must be sized so as not to block the grain supply from the field, while at the same time presenting minimum demands and costs for the operation and maintenance of the intake during harvesting.

2. Pre-cleaning and cleaning of grains

Grain intended for longer-term storage must undergo a pre-cleaning/cleaning process to achieve the parameters necessary for the storage period. For many years, our company has been working with renowned companies in this field to find and design the most suitable pre-cleaner/cleaner. Buhler and Petkus guarantee the high quality, performance and durability of the machines and equipment offered by them.

3. Drying

Grain for long-term storage must have the required storage moisture content. Considering the weather patterns in recent years, it is almost impossible to achieve storage moisture for many cereals and oilseeds without the use of a drying oven. For this reason, our company is engaged in the installation and importation of continuous dryers from the Mathews Company.

4. Storage

In farms and agribusinesses, we can encounter grain storage in different types and designs of storage silos. In the past, these were mainly concrete silos and silos made of enamelled metal sheets (e.g. Vitkovice silos); nowadays, galvanised silos made of profiled galvanised metal sheets are the most widespread method of long-term storage. The wide range and versatility of use of galvanized silos with flat or conical bottom make them suitable for long-term storage of all types of grain, also thanks to the monitoring and possibility of regulating the basic parameters of stored commodities.

5. Expedition

The cleaned, dried and re-stacked grain is removed from the grain silos by means of circular or square-shaped dispatch bins located on a traversable steel structure and by means of side-loading installed directly on the wall of the storage silos.
